Packaging buying guide
How to Prepare a Custom Jewelry Packaging Brief
A clear brief makes it easier to compare quotations and check whether a box, pouch and printed card work together. Start with the jewelry and sales plan, then define the components.
1. Describe the jewelry and how it is sold
List the pieces being packed: rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets or a mixed set. Include dimensions, photographs and any parts that need particular support. Explain whether the order is sold in a store, shipped directly to a customer or presented as a gift.
For a necklace, show how the chain should sit. For earrings, explain whether a display card is part of the presentation. These details help define the insert and usable space before the outside box dimensions are fixed.
2. List the components and quantities
Separate the presentation box, insert, pouch, care card, tissue, logo seal and outer shipping pack. Include a quantity for each item and identify different artwork versions or sizes. Wanxin Pack's standard MOQ is 500 pieces per item for most custom specifications; special materials, structures or processes may require more.
A brand ordering 500 jewelry boxes and 500 care cards is specifying two production items. The final quote should make that separation clear, including any sample or setup charges and the shipping basis.
3. Confirm fit before decorative details
State whether any dimensions are internal or external. If you do not have a final box size, provide the jewelry and the packing arrangement instead. Include the space needed for the insert and any additional pouch or card.
Choose a sample method based on what needs approval. A plain sample can help check structure and fit. Material swatches help compare paper or fabric. A fully printed sample can help review artwork and finishing when that is the remaining decision.
4. Provide the artwork and color reference
Send editable vector artwork where available, final care wording, logo placement and preferred print dimensions. Identify foil, embossing, printed colors and any other finish separately. If color consistency matters, provide a physical or specified color reference.
A color can appear different on paper, cotton and velvet. Review the relevant samples as a set. Check small text and QR codes at their intended size, and make sure the final web destination is correct.
5. Separate the retail pack from the shipping pack
Show the complete packed order, including the box, pouch, insert, card and cushioning. Share the destination country and postcode, desired delivery date and whether the items should ship together.
Compare quotations on the same delivery basis. A product price without packing volume, freight and stated delivery terms does not show the final delivered cost. For assembled rigid boxes, ask for the carton quantity and dimensions before choosing a shipping option.
A brief you can copy into your inquiry
- Jewelry types, dimensions and product photographs
- Sales channel and intended packing arrangement
- Box, insert, pouch, card, tissue and mailer requirements
- Quantity and artwork version for each item
- Preferred materials, colors, print methods and finishes
- What you need to check in the sample
- Destination country, postcode and required delivery date
Send what you have first. Missing dimensions or artwork can be discussed as the specification develops.
